RECYCLING
Vancouver Battery Corp. is very active in recycling and providing information on recycling batteries to consumers.
Rechargeable Batteries
Vancouver Battery Corp. recycles all rechargeable batteries free of charge. This includes:
Sealed Lead Acid batteries
Cordless Phone batteries
Laptop / Notebook batteries
Cell Phone batteries
Car batteries
Digital Camera batteries
UPS batteries
Nimh batteries
Nicd batteries
Camcorder batteries
We use Interstate Batteries for our sealed lead acid batteries and Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation www.rbrc.org for all other rechargeable batteries.

Non-Rechargeable Batteries
Non-rechargeable batteries include:
Alkaline batteries
Heavy Duty batteries
Button Cell batteries
Hearing Aid batteries
Watch batteries
Calculator batteries
Lantern batteries
Car Alarm batteries
We drop-off our non-rechargeable batteries at www.electronics-recycling.com

You can also drop your batteries off directly. They charge $1.00 per kilogram. They recycle a large variety of electronics as well. We charge $0.750 per lb to package and deliver to Delta for our customers.
Electronics-Recycling has a large operation in Delta in which they package and ship materials off to Vietnam to be recycled there. We are told details on the recycling process will be sent to us shortly. We understand that some people are uncomfortable because the products are getting shipped offshore but most of our customers find the alternatives a little expensive at the moment.
The other choices that we know of at present are:
Nu-life industries at http://www.nulife-ind.com/ - charges $3.55 per kilogram.
Toxco at: http://www.toxco.com/facilities.html - charges approximately $6.00 per kilogram
Both have facilities in BC and are fairly well known. The major drawback at the moment with these is the costs which are very prohibitive.
